Biography
Anton Smit is one of South Africa's most prominent contemporary sculptors, renowned for his monumental human figures, masks, hands, angels, warriors, and abstract forms that combine physical grandeur with emotional depth.

Working primarily in bronze, steel, metal, fiberglass, and a proprietary iron-polymer cast, Smit creates works that appear to move, stretch, and reach out, transforming stillness into gesture. His sculptures are often described as inspirational action figures, evoking themes of resilience, spirituality, and transformation.

Smit's innovative sculpture methods include blending metal with polymer and other media to produce striking textural effects. His figures often seem to float or stretch into space, embodying a poetic illusion of movement, with limbs and torsos that invite emotional engagement.

In 2003, Smit established the Anton Smit Sculpture Park in Bronkhorstspruit, South Africa, an extraordinary open-air gallery overlooking Bronkhorstspruit Dam. This world-class sculpture garden has become a destination for collectors and art lovers, offering breathtaking landscapes alongside his towering figurative and abstract works.

Through his fusion of materials, motion, and emotion, Anton Smit continues to push the boundaries of monumental sculpture, leaving a lasting mark on the international art scene.
