In my work, I deconstruct the movements, trip down to pure lines, simplify the shapes and identify the dynamic and the rhythms to produce contemporary and distinctively elegant sculpture inextricably associated with, but yet completely independent of, reality.
Marie Ackers is a French-born contemporary sculptor, internationally acclaimed for her minimalist bronze animal sculptures. Born in Paris in 1968 and now based in the United Kingdom, Ackers specializes in wildlife and equestrian art, capturing the grace, strength, and dynamism of animals through pure lines and simplified forms.
Inspired by 19th-century French Animaliers such as Pierre-Jules Mêne and Antoine-Louis Barye, as well as modern masters including Brâncuși, Henry Moore, and François Pompon, her work bridges classical tradition and contemporary abstraction.
Her elegant bronze sculptures of horses, dogs, and wildlife have earned international recognition for transcending realism and revealing the timeless essence of animal movement.
